ABOUT OUR PANELISTS

Jeff Burek, D.W. Clark

Jeff Burek is the Vice President of D.W. Clark, a multi-alloy metalcasting manufacturer for commercial and defense industries. His direct experience in additive manufacturing spans over the past 7 years, utilizing additive for both tooling and tooling-free solutions with robotic additive molding. He led the implementation of a large-format mold printer at D.W. Clark, as one of the first metalcasting companies in the country to own and operate a mold printing operation on-site. The additive technology and manufacturing platform behind it has enabled D.W. Clark to produce increasingly complex castings with higher quality, lower cost, and faster lead times.

Jeff is currently on the Board of Directors for Steel Founders Society of America and previously chaired the Future Leaders group. In 2018 he was awarded the Briggs Technical and Operating Medal, one of the highest distinctions within the steel casting industry.

Kevin Zygadlo, NMC Board Member & North American Metal Services

Kevin is our additive sandcasting and manufacturing expert here at the NMC. He has spent over 35 years in casting, forging, and machining world. He has a passion for helping find solutions to OEM’s supply chain problems with new and emerging manufacturing processes such as Additive Patternless Sandcasting process which could be the key to help solve the low volume legacy problem the Navy encounters every day. He has worked across many industries including Aerospace, Power Generation, Defense, and Naval Shipbuilding. He works with many small businesses to develop new markets for these companies to expand into new markets and increase sales. He does this through both OEM’s and sub tier levels to expand their portfolio of customers. Currently, he works with a few of our members such as D.W. Clark, IMT Technologies, Duhadaway Tool and Die, and LA Simpson. Kevin has a vast network of connections to help solve any problem you will encounter and will help connect you to the right contact. Over the past five years, he has developed a big network of connections, especially in the Navy world at many of the major shipyards including Newport News Shipbuilding, Electric Boat, and Bath Iron Works. He helps his suppliers get the exposure they need to succeed which everyone knows can be a challenge these days.

Dr. Dongsheng Li, Advanced Manufacturing LLC

Dongsheng Li is CEO of Advanced Manufacturing LLC, providing fabrication and consulting services on additive manufacturing. His company received funding support from DOD, DOE, NASA, and the state of Connecticut. Before that he was a staff engineer in Materials and Processes Engineering Department at Pratt & Whitney, working on advanced alloys development and process modeling. He coordinated harvesting and monitoring the R&D works in Centers of Excellence funded by P&W; lead and coordinated research activities among OEMs in multiple multimillion Air Force programs as Technical POC. Before joining P&W, he worked at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as a staff scientist and as a research engineer at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research areas include alloy development, process optimization, materials design, statistical upscaling, multiscale modeling, and microstructure reconstruction. He received PhD in Mechanical Engineering and M.S. in Computer Science from Florida State University in 2002. So far, he authored and co-authored 60+ peer reviewed journal publications.
