Introducing Friction Stir Welding to New England

Friction stir welding (FSW) is a solid-state joining technology. Compared with other traditional methods, FSW stands out with little distortion, high performance, low operation cost, high repeatability.

AM Energization Corp (Advanced Manufacturing LLC's sister company) is introducing friction stir welding to New England area. A CNC type and a gantry type FSW machine are installed in a 6,000 square feet workshop in Windsor. AM Energization is providing machinery, fabrication service and consultation in FSW. It has provided machines and services to battery tray production line companies and universities in the US. 

About the Speaker:

Dr. Dongsheng Li is an entrepreneur, researcher, and an educator. After he graduated with PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Florida State University, he worked at Georgia Institute of Technology, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and Pratt & Whitney, before he founded Advanced Manufacturing LLC (AMLLC). AMLLC, an NMC member, is funded by the Department of Energy, the Air Force, and NASA, focusing on additive manufacturing and friction stir welding. In 2023 he founded AM Energization Corp to focus on industrialization and scale up production of FSW machines to reduce the cost and expand the application.
