Historic fireboat on display in New London

The Sosa family of New Britain was among visitors Saturday taking tours of the historic fireboat Fire Fighter docked at the Custom House Pier.

The vessel, which served the Fire Department of the city of New York from 1938 to 2010, is operated out of Greenport, N.Y., as America's Fireboat-Fire Fighter Museum. It will be docked at the pier in New London awaiting an opening at a Rhode Island shipyard for maintenance.

Tours of no more than 12 visitors on board at one time are from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Mystic Seaport Museum Plans Partial Reopening

NBC CT, May 7, 2020

The Mystic Seaport Museum is one of many tourist attractions across the state preparing for a potential reopening.

If phase one of the state's reopening plan moves forward, outdoor museums and zoos will be included in the various businesses that are allowed to reopen on May 20.

"We are very excited to reopen, but we are being extremely cautious in how to do it," said Dan McFadden, spokesperson for the Mystic Seaport Museum.
